Fukushima Projection Mapping
Haruka 2 01 8
- Boshin Wind, Flower Clouds -
The "Haruka" projection mapping project has been held in hopes of supporting the recovery of Fukushima and Tohoku following the Great East Japan Earthquake. In 2018, its sixth year, the project expanded to include Tsuruga Castle in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, and Shirakawa-Komine Castle in Shirakawa City, the two locations where the project took place, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Year of the Dog and Dragon. Based on the theme of "Wind of the Dog and Dragon, Clouds of Flowers," the projection mapping depicted the "courage to face challenges" and "indomitable spirit" that live in Fukushima. Each frame of the Bushido was hand-drawn, and the ink was depicted using actual photographs, resulting in a work that was meticulously crafted with attention to detail. Additionally, a four-day "Projection Mapping at Schools!" class toured schools throughout Fukushima Prefecture, running from January 30th to February 2nd.
